How do I turn on the flashlight?

Open the app and tap the power/torch button to switch the LED on at full power. Tap again to turn it off. You can also use the color screen light when your device has no LED or you want a softer light.

The flashlight or flash alert isn't working — why?

Flash features depend on your device's LED and Android settings. Make sure no other app is using the camera/flash, that the app has the Camera permission, and that your battery saver isn't blocking it. Some devices don't have an LED, in which case you can use the screen light.

How do flash alerts on calls and messages work?

When enabled, the app blinks the LED when an incoming call, SMS or app notification arrives. To do this it needs phone-state and/or notification access. It only detects that an event happened — it does not read your messages or contacts.

Does the SOS signal call 911 or emergency services?

No. The SOS feature in Disco Light is a visual light signal only — a repeating strobe to help you be seen. It does not contact emergency services, dial any number, or notify anyone. Never rely on it as your only way to get help in an emergency.

Why does the app need the Camera permission?

On Android, the LED / flash is part of the camera hardware, so controlling the torch requires the Camera permission. The app uses it only to switch the light on and off — it does not take photos or record video.

Does it cost anything? Are there subscriptions?

The app is free and supported by ads. There are currently no in-app purchases or subscriptions, so there's nothing to cancel or restore. If paid features are added later, the price will be shown before you buy.

How do I stop seeing personalized ads?

If a consent prompt appeared when you first opened the app, you can decline personalized ads there. You can also reset or opt out of your Advertising ID in Android via Settings → Privacy → Ads. Clearing app data lets the prompt appear again.

Does the app collect my data?

Your settings stay on your device, and the camera is used only to control the flash. Because the free app is ad-supported, we use Google Firebase, Google AdMob, Adjust and the Meta (Facebook) SDK, which process limited device and advertising identifiers. We do not read your messages, contacts or precise location. See our Privacy Policy.
